Money Management and Gambling Addiction

Posted in category Live Dealer Blackjack

When playing any casino game, it’s important to overcome the gambling addiction which is defined by the desire to recover your losses. This can make you a compulsive gambler. Even though blackjack can be beaten under certain conditions, it is still a casino game where you can lose your money.

A professional blackjack player is willing to risk his money in order to win in the long run. If you really want to win, you must do two things:

1. Limit your losses for each session.
2. Limit your winnings for each session.

This is called money management.

It’s very difficult to budget your time and maximum losses when playing blackjack. Very often, you may simply end the session with a balance of 0.

ABCCounter can help you solve this problem by enabling you to set a loss limit each time you start playing a new session. Once that limit is reached, the software will automatically stop playing.

You can learn more about our advanced money management systems by joining our free course.

Worsening Conditions for Live Dealer Blackjack: Is There a Solution?

Tuesday, October 19, 2010 14:29
Posted in category Live Dealer Blackjack

Live Dealer Blackjack is an online blackjack game where the cards are dealt by a real dealer. This game was released a few years ago at some online casinos. It has currently spread to multiple software platforms, all of which usually have the same or similar playing rules.

Everything happens in real time and the dealer draw real cards from a real shoe. So the cards are not shuffled after each hand, like in traditional online blackjack games. Therefore, card counting can work, although you must realize that there are two important factors:

  • Deck penetration
  • Betting spread

Since the days when the Live Dealer Blackjack game was first released, the deck penetration was approximately 55%. However, it was possible to utilize a betting spread of 1 to 100 at that time. Therefore, even though the deck penetration was low, the card counting was profitable if you were using a large betting spread.

Over the years many players have observed the large betting spread allowed at the online tables and have won money consistently, that’s why the casinos have dropped the spread to 1-75, and then to 1-50. Currently, most casinos have a 1-10 spread.

The goal of the casino is to discourage card counters who want to win the casino’s money. Each time the betting spread drops, you must increase the card counting strategy’s level in order to win in the long run. At the same time, the percentage of players who can actually do this decreases too. However, most of them are not interested in spending their time at online casinos, but rather play at the land-based casinos with a better deck penetration.

The ABCCounter software deals with these problems and can use four-level card counting systems. The software does everything automatically so it can make this game profitable for you in the long term.

To become a professional blackjack player, you can learn blackjack from our unique online blackjack course. It guides you from basic definitions, such as hit and stand, up to the advanced techniques and much more. This course is ideal for players looking for a different approach to learning blackjack.

Why Does Basic Strategy Work at Online Casinos?

Monday, October 11, 2010 9:36
Posted in category Blackjack

If you already know the blackjack rules and want to go a step further, you need to learn blackjack basic strategy and how to use the chart. You can easily learn this by simply clicking here.

Now you may wonder:

  • Why basic strategy works
  • Why you need to learn it
  • How ABCCounter software helps you improve your basic strategy skills

To get the whole picture, remember that in blackjack, the player can play his hand however he or she likes, whereas the dealer has a set of rules to follow.

For example, the dealer must hit even when he has 16 and the deck is full only with ten. In this case, he’ll inevitably bust. On the contrary, you may stand on a hand with a value of 14 if you want. So, when the dealer has a stiff hand, you can just profit from it and decide to stand, but not to risk taking another card.

To know what decision to make you need to find all of the possible situations in the blackjack game and calculate which one has a higher probability of happening: the dealer busts, the player busts, etc. This has been already been done for you by mathematicians who have simulated billions of hands on the computer to determine which decision is more advantageous for you. Thus they made a table containing all of these situations, and it’s called Basic Strategy.

Every time you play a hand your instincts may tell you to make a decision against the basic strategy. If you do this you may win sometimes, but most of the time you’ll lose. That’s why, in the long run, basic strategy is the best way to play your hands.

If you don’t want to learn blackjack basic strategy, but still use it while playing, then our software can help you. ABCCounter can play blackjack using basic strategy instead of you.

Card Counting at Online Casinos – Is It Possible?

Saturday, October 2, 2010 12:17
Posted in category Live Dealer Blackjack

You have probably heard about card counting. Now you may wonder if you can use this strategy at online casinos or not. Certain conditions need to be met in order to use card counting. Below you can find where to do it and how to do it.

First of all, card counting was developed due to the fact that the used cards were placed in the discard tray – not to be used again until after the next shuffle. In the land based casinos the cards are not shuffled after each round. While in the online blackjack, the shuffling is done after each hand. This makes card counting useless.

However there is a solution, as online casinos have the Live Dealer Blackjack game. The reason it is called Live is that a real dealer deals the cards from a real show, giving you real cards. You can watch the dealer in action via webcam, converse with him/her and the other players at the table.

Many casino software platforms have now adopted the Live Dealer Blackjack game. What is important about Live Blackjack is that the cards are not shuffled after each hand. Therefore, card counting can actually be used, but not all card counting strategies are profitable. Since the penetration is usually low, only a multi-level card counting system can guarantee you an edge over the casino.

The problem is that a multi-level card counting system can be used only by the “Rain man”. But now it has become possible, thanks to ABCCounter software. Our software does everything instead of you, including reading the cards, performing the calculations and making the decisions.

Martingale System – The Pros and the Cons

Friday, September 24, 2010 9:56
Posted in category Blackjack

The basic concept of the Martingale Betting System is that you double your bet after each loss until you win.

We are often asked if Martingale progression is a good betting system to use for blackjack, especially online blackjack.

If you are using Martingale system then you risk losing a significant amount of money in a short period of time, such as 8-10 hands. That’s why this betting system can be effective only under certain conditions.

So, one condition is that the online casinos must allow low minimum bets like $0.1. Therefore, you have many hands to lose until you start making large bets like $50. Your bets would be $0.1, $0.2, $0.4, $0.8, $1.6, $3.2, $6.4, $12.8, $25.6, $51.2.

However, you’ll lose a lot of the time if you start betting with 0.1 and play by yourself. This is where the ABCCounter software can solve the problem, as it can play all of these hands instead of you. This will save you valuable time while minimizing the risk involved with using the Martingale system.

Unfortunately, the low minimum bet is still not sufficient to guarantee you success with Martingale when playing blackjack. The playing strategy must be changed too if you use this betting system. For instance, if you play using basic strategy, you should not double, but rather hit. Since you double the bet after each losing hand, there is no reason to double again and lower your number of losing hands until you reach the big bet. Another reason for not doubling is that you may be dealt a low card, so you won’t be able to hit again and win that hand.
